How to Apply a Spica Bandage

The Spica bandage is not one that we use very commonly but it can be a game changer if you need to immobilize forelimb or cover a wound in the proximal forelimb. It is an expensive bandage to apply as it requires a fair bit of material.

In the video I discuss some of the important points when creating the bandage and demonstrate the better (in my opinion) cross-your-heart technique for applying the bandaging material. If you do not use the cross-your-heart technique the bandage is more likely to slip back and become uncomfortable and not likely to fulfill its function.

I like the Spica bandage for issues located in the proximal radius/ulnar; elbow, humerus or shoulder.
