This video blog is a continuation of the case that we presented on April 16, 2025. A young Husky patient that was diagnosed with hip dysplasia as a puppy and recently luxated on one of his hips.
He was referred to someone else to have an FHO performed on the luxated hip. A sciatic nerve deficit was noted immediately post-operatively and the referring veterinarian felt that there was too much neck left on the femur at the time of the FHO.
In this video, we examine how much neck should be removed; how to assess if enough neck has been removed, and when to go back in and revise the surgery if too much neck left behind is thought to be a concern.
